How to Use This Book

This is not a course you watch. It is a course you work through. Every unit follows the same five-part structure, and that structure is the entire point.

1. A case study hook: a real, dated story about money in India from 2025 or 2026. Not a hypothetical, an actual headline with actual numbers.

2. Core theory: the idea the hook requires you to understand, explained the way you would explain it to a smart friend, not the way a textbook explains it to nobody in particular.

3. Figures and a “Try it”: charts built for this course from real data wherever real data exists, plus one interactive tool per unit. Sit with each chart for a minute before moving on. It usually tells you something the text does not say outright.

4. A quiz: twelve questions per unit, with the answer and an explanation shown the moment you choose. Commit to an answer first; do not skim ahead.

5. Apply it: a short writing exercise that asks you to do, in miniature, what every TheMarketDigest article does: take something real from your own life or this week’s news and explain the mechanism behind it in your own words.

Why Indian numbers, specifically. Most free personal finance material online is written for American readers: 401(k)s, credit unions, dollar prices. This course is built differently. Every price, rate, scheme and case study comes from Indian sources in 2025 and 2026: RBI policy statements, MoSPI inflation data, NPCI payment statistics, SEBI studies, AMFI fund flows and the Union Budget. By the time you finish, you will not just know what inflation is. You will be able to explain why it went from 0.25% to 5.54% in under a year, and what that did to a fixed deposit.

The capstone. After Unit 10, you will write a one-page money plan for a real or realistic person, applying at least three tools from this course and connecting it to a current news story. It is graded against a public rubric, and the strongest plans each cycle are edited and published in the Reader’s Voice with your byline.

Why this course is different

We teach with real Indian numbers and publish the best work. Every price, rate and case study comes from 2025 and 2026 releases, and the strongest capstone plans get published in the Reader’s Voice with a byline.
