NSE (National Stock Exchange)
The National Stock Exchange, founded in 1992, introduced fully electronic, screen-based trading to India. It runs the Nifty 50 index and is one of the world’s largest exchanges for derivatives by number of contracts traded.
Why It Matters
Most share trading in India happens on the NSE.
In India
The NSE itself has long planned to list its own shares, which would let investors own a piece of the exchange.
