Fitment Factor
The fitment factor is the number by which an employee’s existing basic pay is multiplied to calculate the revised basic pay under a new pay commission.
Why It Matters
It is the single number central government employees watch most closely.
In India
The 7th Pay Commission used a fitment factor of 2.57, raising minimum basic pay from ₹7,000 to ₹18,000 a month.
